Correct spot

All flowering plants need good amount of sunlight so that there can be appropriate budding which further leads to a healthy growing Dahlia. Keeping dahlia in full sun will ensure maximum flowering in your plant. Dahlia must be placed where they will receive maximum of sunlight, just leave your plant in an open area.

Fertilizers, play an important role

They are heavy feeders; the soil should be rich in fertilizers. Just fill up your soil with plenty of fertilizers. Also add a layer of any compost you have and make a thin layer of it around the rim of the pot and above the soil, by doing this you add extra protection to your soil which protect the roots from damaging and protects the roots from the damage caused by any temperature change. Also it keeps the moisture locked in soil and makes it a nutritious one.
Also as we know that dahlia is a heavy feeder same goes for it when it comes to fertilizing the plant. The plant loves potassium. Potassium is a necessary nutrient for any flowering plant. Feed your plant with fertilizers like DAP and Potash every week for better results and healthy growth of your dahlia.

Regular cutting and pinching

Do pinching on a regular basis when your plant is young. Doing pinching i.e. cutting the branches of plant will lead into a bushy plant. Pinch back the terminal buds when the plant is 15 inches tall to enforce good branching and structure and increase budding. Also chopping off the dead flowers will help in better growth.

Spray pesticide regularly

Be careful about the spider mites, nymphs, aphids and other insects on your dahlia. To prevent your plant from these spray any pesticide regularly on your plant. You can use neem oil and spray it every alternate day till you feel that your plant has revived its health. Also spray this for precaution in every 15 days if your plant is healthy.

Appropriate watering is the key

Dahlia need moisture all the time, so watering it daily with some water is the right way to water it. You don’t have to follow a strict time-table for its watering just water it when you feel like the soil is drying. Water it in a way that soil is always retained with moisture. Also keep in mind that during the budding stage watering rate should not be very high as it will hinder the flowering process.
These are some of the main points that you need to know for your Dahlia plant. Do follow these and enjoy beautiful flowers of Dahlia in you garden.
