GET MAXIMUM FRUITING FROM YOUR TOMATO PLANT

Want to eat healthy and full of taste tomatoes, grow them on your own by keeping in mind these easy tips. Veggies which you buy in market are grown by using chemical methods, which is the reason why they lack in the rich flavors. Here is the detailed procedure of growing tomato plant in your garden:

START WITH PREPARING A HEALTHY SEEDLING

For this you must keep in mind several points:

  • Use hybrid tomato seeds of good quality. Hybrid seeds are best when it comes to growing vegetables in your garden.
  • For preparing soil for your seeds, mix 75% cocopeat with 25% sand. Cocopeat is best for growing seeds because of its porous nature that allows roots to grow in it.
  • Once you are done with soil, sprinkle some seeds on it and then cover the seeds with some more soil.
  • Now water your seeds regularly and you will witness some new shoots germinating from it.
  • After almost a month when the seedlings become mature, transplant them in a new pot.

Once seedling is done, next are the tips and steps that must be followed for a healthy growth of the seedling. Following these steps will ensure a healthy plant that has many tasty and juicy tomatoes on it, also problems like improper size of tomatoes and pre mature falling of flowers will be removed if you keep in mind these points:

  • ·        SOIL

Like other vegetables tomatoes also have lot of roots and for good growth of roots, soil must be soft and porous in nature. The soil can be a mixture of 40% sand, 30% garden soil and 30 % compost. Compost can be any compost like vermicompost or cow dunk compost.

  • ·        SUNLIGHT

Tomatoes are sun loving plant. They need 4- 5 hours sunlight daily. In short, Proper amount of exposure to the sun will result in good growth and healthy fruiting in your tomatoes. If proper sunlight is not given then proper fruiting will not happen, instead your plant will increase in length rather than fruiting.

  • ·        WATERING

When it comes to watering, tomatoes are pretty drought tolerant once established. Watering should not be done at very high rate, water must be provided when needed. When you notice that leaves are drying, then only watering should be done this would boost flowering process of your plant and will ensure more and more number of tomatoes.

  • ·        FERTILIZER

Every fruiting/ vegetable plant needs to be fertilized regularly. For getting healthy and rich in nutrients tomato use organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers. You can feed your plant with intake of mustard cake fertilizer. Mustard cake fertilizer can be given by decomposing it in water.
Also fertilizer rich in calcium should be given. Deficiency of calcium in the plant can result in black spots on your tomatoes. For preventing this use crushed egg shells regularly to ensure the supply of calcium in your plant.

  • ·        PESTICIDES

There are many pests that can hinder the growth of your plant, to prevent them from attacking you can use neem oil as an organic pesticide.
