Tips to Grow and Care Tulsi Plant in Summers



Any plant requires some key factors that are needed to be served for taking its good care. Tulsi plant, also known as Holy basil is one such plant that is over filled with so many advantages. Known as one of the oldest medicinal herbs, tulsi has resulted in many health benefits in humans. Moreover, according to Hindu mythology this plant is treated as godly.
Today in this blog we will learn about the basic yet effective care of Tulsi plant. One can either grow this plant by buying directly from the Nursery shop or can also grow it from seeds.

How to Grow Tulsi From Seed:-

Tulsi plant is a tropical plant that directly suggests that it should be kept in warm temperature for boosting its germination process. Keeping the pot where it gets proper sunlight will serve the purpose.

Points to Remember for Tulsi Care in summers:-

Pot size:
Tulsi plant is not a very big plant; using a 10 to 12 inch the pot will serve the purpose of healthy tulsi.

Sunlight:
Sunlight is a vital factor when it comes to this plant. As already mentioned, tulsi is a tropical plant and it requires more temperature. Keeping the plant exposed in the morning and evening light is the best way. In ideal conditions, it is known that tulsi requires at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. 
Also to note, that does not keep it in the harsh sunlight of afternoon times as it might damage the soft leaves of the plant.

Soil:
Tulsi being a heat lover also suggests that its soil must be of well drained type that does not retain water for long. More water storage can lead to root damage and yellowing of leaves. To be precise we can say that in 100% of soil: 50% garden soil, 25% any organic compost and 25% sand would create the proper soil that is best for Tulsi.

Fertilizer:
Tulsi plant is a heavy feeder and requires care for its good growth. To fertilize and nourish the plant rightly, organic compost that can be in the form of vermin compost, cow dunk or any other home-made compost can be given to the plant.  Be sure to supplement with any of these compost in every 20 to 25 days to ensure adequate fertility. 

Watering:
Plant doesn’t require much water. Excess watering can affect the plant drastically. Daily one time in the evening is the appropriate way for watering tulsi plant in summers.
