GROW ROSE PLANT FROM CUTTING

There are various ways by which you can easily propagate this beautiful and attractive plant in your garden, among that the mostly used way is to propagate roses from rose cuttings taken from the bush. This method always tops the list as you can easily and conveniently grow your plant with the cutting method. You just have to follow these steps and keep in mind the below given points-

Steps to follow

·        Choose Proper Cutting
Choosing a proper cutting is one of the most necessary and prime step to be followed for a healthy plant. For every time when you are going to grow your plant from cutting make sure that the cutting should be neither too thick nor too thin as both of these conditions will result in an unhealthy plant. Cutting of thickness approximately same as pencil’s thickness would be an apt choice.
Also keep in mind that your cutting should be of 6 to 8 inches long so that at least 2 inch of it can be kept inside the soil for better and tough roots

·        Cut Appropriately

When cutting by a cutter always make sure to cut the bush in slanting manner i.e. at 45 degree so that more surface area comes in contact with the soil, this helps in maximum growth of roots from you cutting.
Also clean your pruner/cutter from hydrogen peroxide prior to cutting, you can also use warm water if you’re lacking with hydrogen peroxide.

·        Correct Soil is the Key
A mixture of 40 % garden soil, 40 % sand and 20 % cow dunk compost goes well with the rose cutting. More percentage of sand ensures well drain soil which in turn ensures splendid growth of plant.
Use a big pot so that more moisture is retained.
For the process of making proper soil, start up with forming a layer of small stones, pebbles and sand at the bottom of your pot than filling up the pot with the above mixture, this will help in drainage and will also prevent your plant from the damage of excessive watering.

·        Use Rooting Hormone
Using this prevents diseases and fungus from attacking your cutting and ensures healthy growth.
Wet the bottom 1 inch area of your cutting and then apply the rooting hormone powder on it. If you don’t have this with you, you need not to worry as a very good alternative to it is already available in our kitchens – it is turmeric powder (haldi) which works as an excellent anti-fungal remedy.

·        Water it nicely
At last after doing all this, just water the cutting nicely and you will soon notice new shoots arising from it. Keep in mind that the complete soil gets fully wet as moisture plays a vital role at this point. Keep it in shade for at least 2-3 days until your cutting starts growing. You can also cover your cutting from polythene for some time to retain moisture if there is high temperature in your area.

Follow these 5 steps and enjoy the company of pretty roses in your garden.
