GET MAXIMUM FLOWERING FROM YOUR NAG CHAMPA

Want an evergreen, perennial and alluring flowering plant for your garden. Nag Champa (Plumeria Pudica) is one for you. With innumerable beautiful white flowers and green leaves growing throughout the year ‘NAG CHAMPA’ is sure to make your field a more amazing one. Below are some of the main points to be kept in mind for the proper care of your plant:

1. Nature-

Heat friendly is one of the characteristic of this plant. It loves environment with more sunlight and the quantity of flowers has direct relations with the amount of sunlight it gets. Winters are not so apt for the plant but even in this season the plant may lessen with number of flowers but there will always be some flowering in the plant.

2. Soil-

Well drain soil is befitting for the plant. This type of soil can be made by mixing 40% garden soil, 40% sand and 20% vermicompost or cow dung can also be the option to go with.

3.Positioning-

As discussed earlier , this plant loves sunlight but anything to excess is not good hence direct sunlight should be avoided; the plant should be kept in such position from where it receives sunbeams from morning to 12 or 1 in the afternoon. You can keep your pot against the wall for the same.

4. Pesticides-

This plant is mostly attacked by white powdery or mili bug pests. These pests chiefly hit Hibiscus and Nag Champa varieties. To get rid of these and to protect your plant you can spray organic pesticide like neem oil on your plant and if it doesn’t work you can go for chemical pesticides.

5. Pot size-

Primarily, Champa variety plants are of big size so 14 to 16 inches of pot is good to go with. If you want you can also use any other container like a big drum or a bucket.

6. Propagation-

The plant can be easily grown by cutting process. You can use stem part of the plant as cutting (kalam). Cutting process is very successful during rainy season. Use at least a 10 inch pot for the initial process. Also keep in mind that cutting is highly vulnerable to termites (deemak) so always spray a termite resistant fungicide or pesticide in the soil to protect your cutting.

7. Fertilizers-

Last I’ll discuss about the fertilizers which is one of the most important step for getting a healthy and bloomed flowering plant. Bone meal which is a great source of calcium and phosphorus, see weed extract which helps in flowering and also timely doses of mustard cake fertilizer are all the fertilizers which are recommended for your Nag Champa.
